On 14 April, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted the Graduation Ceremony of the Civil Servants’ Course (CSC) 2022. The course was completed by eight students from Georgia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, who started their educational journey at BALTDEFCOL three months ago.
They have acquired knowledge about international law, operational-level planning and managing contemporary crises, and allied joint operations. Some of them will also participate in the BALTDEFCOL’s major exercise Joint Resolve 2022.
The Commandant Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm opened the Ceremony, and during his opening remarks he stated that time flies and within three months students have shown excellent performance. He congratulated all the students and encouraged them to stay connected with the college as “we are one big BALTDEFCOL family”.
The ceremony continued with the remarks by the Course Director Colonel Andriejus Grachauskas, who shortly explained the students’ journey within three months. He praised the students for being so active and eager to learn. He pointed out that this year, it was difficult to choose the best students because all of them presented excellent performance achieving high results.
After the speeches, the official ceremony took place. Eight students received their diplomas, and as the College tradition, students were recognized for their outstanding performance during the Course. Ms Justė Adakauskaitė (LTU) received the Best Student Award and Ms Vaida Vaitkuvienė (LTU) was acknowledged with the Class Leader Recognition.
During her graduation speech, Ms Vaida Vaitkuvienė emphasized the extraordinary time, intensive but still interesting period of education at the College. She also shared a recipe for success with all of us.
The Best Faculty Award by CSC 2022 was presented to Mr Olavi Jänes.
We send our warmest congratulations to all the graduates of Civil Servants’ Course 2022! We hope you will continue the road of self-development and we wish you all the best in your future endeavors!
CSC is designed for junior and mid-ranking civil servants who deal with national security and defence issues in various ministries and government agencies. This course is three months long and is conducted closely together with the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC). Thus, CSC builds upon close civil-military interaction and promotes inter-agency cooperation, which is beneficial for respective nations.
