Induction Ceremony of Major General Andis Dilāns into the BALTDEFCOL Hall of Fame

The Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted the second induction ceremony of the college’s Hall of Fame on Tuesday 8th March 2016. The tradition of the Hall of Fame was brought to life in 2015 for to honour our alumni who have distinguished themselves in their military and/or civilian careers. Major General Andis Dilāns, Latvian Military Representative to the EU and NATO, was chosen as a second member of the Baltic Defence College Hall of Fame. MG Dilāns has graduated from the operational and senior level courses at the Baltic Defence College and served as Course Director of Higher Command Studies Course.

MG Dilāns thanked the Commandant and the college for the honourable recognition in his speech during the induction ceremony. He emphasized that the Baltic Defence College has improved greatly over the last 17 years and is an excellent example of the multinational cooperation in the area of PME, networks built at BALTDEFCOL helped greatly the Baltic States to accede to NATO (and the EU).’

As a part of the tradition, every Hall of Fame inductee provides a lecture to the students and faculty of the college after their induction ceremony. In his speech about Baltic cooperation, MG Dilāns emphasised the importance of further development and closer cooperation in the area of security and defence.
