Joint Resolve 2022 Distinguished Visitor's Day

On the 20th May, within the Combined Joint Staff Exercise Joint Resolve 2022 (JR22), which is conducted in cooperation with War Studies University (WSU), the Distinguished Visitor’s Day (DVD) was organized.


The DVD was honored by the presence of Poland's Deputy Minister - Secretary of State Skurkiewicz at the Ministry of Defense. In addition, the Ambassadors, Defence Attachés, and other high-level guests of allied, and partner nations were also invited to visit the WSU and the exercise. The distinguished visitors were welcomed by both Commandants, Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm (BALTDEFCOL) and Brigadier General Robert Kosowski (WSU).

During the DVD, the guests were briefed on both organizations, their vision, mission, and academic activities. In addition, Col Dzintars Roga (LVA A), the Exercise Director (EXDIR), explained the JR22 scenario and the main decision points of the exercise following the phases of the operational planning based on the Comprehensive Operations Planning Directive (COPD).

An interactive Q/A session was followed by an opportunity to take a tour of the premises and visit Joint Operations Planning Groups (JOPGs) while students were in the middle of wargaming.

Over the coming days, the respective JOPGs will work through the further development of the Course of Action completed with the Decision Briefing.
