Biography
Lt. Col. Kasemaa started his career in the Estonian Defence Forces in 1993 as a conscript. He is a graduate from the Estonian National Defence College (2001) and Baltic Defence College (2013). Moreover, in 2008 he got his M.A. in Organisational Behaviour from Tallinn University and started his Ph.D. at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration in the University of Tartu. The topic of his Ph.D. research is 'Military Morale as a Predictor of the Performance'. In addition, he is an active lecturer at Tallinn University and his subjects and academic interests are mostly connected to leadership, organisational theory and small group research. He also has a varied military career, including:
- 1993-1998 – Service in Estonian Border Guard
- 1998-2001 – Estonian National Defence College
- 2002-2006 – Scouts Battalion – staff officer
- 2006 – Liaison Officer, Helmand, Afghanistan (International Security Assistance Force)
- 2007-2009 – Military Assistant to Chief of Headquarters of the Estonian Defence Forces
- 2009-2012 – Chief of Planning Branch, Estonian National Defence College
- 2013- – Instructor, Baltic Defence College
