Mr. Gatis Mezītis

Development Planner


Mr. Mezītis holds an M.A. in Political Science from the University of Latvia. His dissertation addressed Ethnic Conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh: Causes of Conflict and Factors Hindering Resolution. Additionally he attended the Senior Course 113 at the NATO Defence College and International Defence Resource Management Course at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.

Mr. Mezītis has been a civil servant at the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Latvia from January 2004. He served in positions starting from Senior Desk Officer at the Defence Planning Section up to Head of Multilateral Relations and International Organisations Section and Head of Bilateral Cooperation Section. He has expertise in the national defence planning process, Baltic military cooperation and arms control.
