Commandant‘s visit to the NATO Energy Security Centre for Excellence  

On the 2nd October 2014, as part of his visit to Lithuania, the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College, Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras visited the NATO Energy Security Centre for Excellence (ENSEC COE) located in Vilnius.

Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras was warmly welcomed by the Director ENSEC COE Colonel Gintaras Bagdonas and his staff members. During the meeting a detailed introduction to ENSEC COE, its role and mission as well as its importance to the NATO and the region was given to the Commandant. The parties of the meeting agreed on the importance of intensifying the cooperation in terms of research, conferences, seminars and joint publications. In order to formalize the liaison, it was decided to draft and sign a bilateral Cooperation Agreement between the two institutions.

Created on 10th July 2012, ENSEC COE currently operates as a widely recognized international military organization with the aim of providing qualified and appropriate expert advice on questions related to operational energy security. ENSECO COE belongs to family of 23 NATO Centres of Excellence.

The main objective of the visit to was to familiarize with the Centre and to discuss the prospect of broader bilateral cooperation between BALTDEFCOL and ENSEC COE.
