Official visit to Canadian Forces College and participation in Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence 2019

On 11th of February 2019, Major General Andis Dilāns, Commandant of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) made an official visit to the Canadian Forces College (CFC). MG Dilāns was accompanied by Colonel Ilmar Tamm, Course Director of Joint Command and General Staff Course.

After an office call with Brigadier General Brian McPherson, Commandant of the Canadian Forces College, the visit continued with briefings on the mission, tasks, organisation and academic activities of the two professional military educational institutions. The discussion focused on the possible areas of cooperation between BALTDEFCOL and CFC, including exchange of subject matter experts, participation in conferences and publication of academic papers.

In the afternoon, MG Dilāns awarded Ms Penny Lipman, Librarian of the Royal Canadian Military Institute with the Baltic Defence College Medal of Merit bronze for her significant contribution to development of the education and research process of the Baltic Defence College, as well as for her meritorious dedication and long service to the College.

MG Dilāns’ official visit to Canada continued with a participation in Ottawa Conference on Security and Defence 2019. On 13th of February, MG Dilāns was a panelist on the "Canada and NATO: Which Direction Should The Shield Face?" panel session.
