Opening Ceremony of Higher Command Studies Course 2024

On January 15, 2024, the opening ceremony of the Higher Command Studies Course (HCSC) 2024 was held at the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL).

The BALTDEFCOL Commandant, Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis and the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Estonia, Hanno Pevkur, addressed the students. They wished the students a prosperous time during the upcoming six months at the BALTDEFCOL.

Mr Hanno Pevkur gave an overview of Estonian national defence development during the past year and welcomed the students in the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024.

This year, 24 students from 13 countries have joined the course and having students from countries such as Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Ukraine indicates a wide geographical representation. This diversity not only enriches the learning environment but also mirrors the collaborative and cooperative nature often required in international security and defence.

During their time at BALTDEFCOL, the students must delve into various topics, including international security, strategic leadership, defence policy, and management. The collaborative and interdisciplinary nature of the program fosters an environment where students can learn from academic experts and practitioners in the field.
