On 31st August, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) welcomed the new students of the Civil Servants’ Course (CSC) 2017. The CSC was established in 2001 and as many as 115 graduates from 11 different countries have completed education. This year the course is represented by students from all Baltic states, namely Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.
The course enables civil servants from security and defence related governmental organisations to contribute to the development and implementation of security and defence policies. It provides unique networking opportunities, facilitates civil-military interaction and interagency cooperation, thus enhancing students’ skills and readiness for their future assignments in national and international positions.
Starting from the beginning, CSC students will be merged with military officers and civil servants of the Joint Command and General Staff Course 2017/2018, which is a great opportunity to understand better the civilian perspective on security and defence matters. In addition, they will have also modules designed specifically for civil servants, for example, Defense Management. At the end of September, the students will participate in the Riga Conference 2017.
