Opening of the Joint Command and General Staff Course 2015/2016
On Tuesday, 11th August 2015, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) conducted the opening ceremony of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) with 55 students from 15 countries.
The Commandant of the Baltic Defence College, Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras, welcomed the new students in the Bjorn von Sydow Hall.
In his welcoming remarks, the Commandant emphasised the uniqueness of the Baltic Defence College, as a unique regional multinational professional military education institution that provides education not only for military but also for civilian personnel at the operational and strategic level in English language.
The Commandant specified that, ‘in the Baltic Defence College we promote interoperability and cooperation and it is a place where future military and civilian leaders from the three Baltic States, Allied and Partner Nations are being prepared to meet and deal with future challenges.’
The JCGSC lasts eleven months and prepares future commanders and general staff officers for joint, service, interagency and multinational environments.
Participants in the course are coming from NATO, EU and PFP countries. The list includes the three Baltic States, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Germany, Moldavia, Norway, Poland, Serbia, Sweden, Ukraine and United States of America.
The Baltic Defence College welcomes all students and wishes them a successful academic year!
