Biography
He completed service with the Royal Navy in 2004 with the rank of Rear Admiral. Widely experienced in the command and leadership of teams, including three Type 42 destroyer commands and as Commander of the UK Task Group in 2001, he has also been closely involved within policy development, operational commitments and media operations in the UK’s Ministry of Defence. He has also had extensive involvement with foreign governments across Europe and the Middle East, and in 2002 he developed and managed the transitional regime for Bosnia and Herzegovina’s complex defence institutions while posted as Military Adviser to the High Representative. He is familiar with working at the highest levels of the UK government with Ministers and senior civil servants, industry, the media, and at the interface between public and private sectors.
More recently, he has been selected as a Review Team Leader for the Defence Procurement Agency (DPA) Equipment Programme Peer Review pool, implementing the UK’s government’s best practices in conducting a range of reviews across major defence programmes. He is also active as a defence and military consultant across a wide spectrum of other interests.
