On 28th and 29th of September, the Baltic Defence College's (BALTDEFCOL) faculty and students participated in the Riga Conference 2018 - a regional security related forum. This two-day event has become recognized venue for constructive dialogue on regional and international security among politicians, diplomats and academics dealing with variety of aspects of global affairs. The Conference is organized as a yearly event by the Latvian Transatlantic Organization (LATO), the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. The Baltic Defense College is Informative Partner of the Riga Conference 2018.
The opening remarks of the Conference were provided by H. E. Mr Raimonds Vejonis, President of the Republic of Latvia, who highlighted the role of NATO and EU and guarantors of European stability and development. During the conference the participants had an opportunity to listen to and engage with recognized speakers within focused panels and night owl sessions and to discuss topics closely linked with variety of security aspects.

The Riga Conference 2018 has proved to be an important forum supporting the professional development of BALTDEFCOL faculty and the education of students by creating an opportunity to see the broader context and value of topics provided in the Joint Command and General Staff Course. It was a forum allowing to extend the network of professional links and to promote the College as professional military education organization.
