The Commandant’s working visit to Lithuania
On 7th - 12th October 2015 the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College Major General Vitalijus Vaikšnoras conducted a working visit to Lithuania.
The busy schedule of the visit included meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Lithuania and the leadership of Lithuanian Armed Forces. In addition, the visit presented an opportunity to participate in the European – American Workshop, co-hosted by the Lithuanian MOD and The Potomac Foundation.
Both the meeting with H.E. Juozas Olekas, Minister of Defence, and the meeting with Lieutenant General Jonas Vytautas Žukas can be considered very successful in many aspects, and therefore important for the continuing development of the Baltic Defence College. MG Vaikšnoras gave a detailed overview on current status of BALTDEFCOL, briefed the leadership on the college’s main lines of effort for the academic year 2015/2016 as well as our development plan for the future. While working hard on ensuring the continuing development of the institution, the management of BALTDEFCOL can rely on full support on its efforts.
While participating the workshop “Russia’s New Generation Warfare: Implications for the Baltic States and Poland” on 7th – 9th October, MG Vaikšnoras was invited to chair Working Session 3: “Threat of Russian Intervention”.
As stated on its webpage: “The Potomac Foundation is an independent non-profit research organization dedicated to improving the quality of public discourse and national policy formulation.” The Memorandum of Understanding between the Baltic Defence College and The Potomac Foundation was signed on 10th March 2015.
