On 26th of January 2017 the Commander of the German Armed Forces United Nations Training Centre, Colonel Michael Uhrig visited the Baltic Defence College. In a meeting with the Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns and the Chief of Staff/Senior German National Representative, Colonel Axel Pfaffenroth, experiences from previous participations in UN operations and current challenges for preparing military leaders and troops were discussed as well as opportunities for cooperation.
Afterwards Colonel Uhrig conducted a roundtable discussion with students of the Higher Command Studies Course in and provided a lecture to the students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course on integrated training programmes for UN assignments, the challenges for cooperation with various national and international players and preparedness to deal with complex situations. Concluding his visit Colonel Uhrig offered possibilities of a systematic support by the German UN Training Center to BALTDEFCOL´s courses.
