Today, on 13th of June 2017, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had a privilege to host the Ambassador of the US to Estonia, H.E. Mr. James D. Melville, Jr.
The Ambassador was welcomed by the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns together with members of the College Management Group and the US students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course.
During the visit students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course and the BALTDEFCOL Faculty had an opportunity to enjoy the lecture of Mr. James D. Melville, Jr. The Ambassador portrayed US – European relations within the historical perspective and their implications on current security environment. The US commitment toward the Baltic region security and the importance of the NATO Enhanced Forward Presence as a deterrence aspect was recognized as a balancing factor. During the discussion with students, the European security was deliberated providing broader picture of its multidimensional complexity.
