Visit by Foreign Affairs Committees of Baltic Parliaments
The delegations of the Foreign Affairs Committees of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian Parliaments visited the BALTDEFCOL on 14 MAY.
The visit was mostly dedicated to introducing the BALTDEFCOL to the high-level delegations who visited to the College for the first time. The delegations were welcomed by the Commandant of the BALTDEFCOL Brigadier General Gundars Abols.
Brigadier General Gundars Abols briefed the delegations on the BALTDEFCOL and its courses. Series of seminars took place in the BALTDEFCOL in order to enhance strategic debate on that – here was the role and investment of the BDCOL in organising seminars on 15-16 October 2009 and 18 February 2010.
The program continued with a presentation on the NATO Strategic Concept, NATO document that establishes and reflects transatlantic consensus, given by the Adviser of Latvian Ministry of Defence to BALTDEFCOL Mr Didzis Nimants. The roadmap and future of the Concept, as well as BALTDEFCOL’s role and contribution to the process leading to the new Concept was presented and afterwards discussed.
