Visit by H.E. Ms Tea Akhvlediani, Ambassador of Georgia to Estonia and Colonel Nikoloz Janjgava, First Deputy Chief of General Staff of Georgia

On 19th of September, H.E. Ms Tea Akhvlediani, Ambassador of Georgia to Estonia accompanied by Colonel Nikoloz Janjgava First Deputy Chief of General Staff of Georgia paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL).

The visit started with a welcome and introduction of BALTDEFCOL Management Group members. During the visit, H.E. Ms Akhvlediani and Col Janjgava met with Georgian students attending the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) 2018-2019.

In the afternoon, students of the JCGSC and BALTDEFCOL faculty members had the opportunity to listen to a lecture by Col Janjgava “10 years from the August war – what have we learned?”. He highlighted the national experiences related to preserving independence. Col Janjgava also provided an overview of Georgian and Caucasus security within broader geostrategic context. It was followed by an active questions & answers session.

 

The official visit was concluded with a presentation on BALTDEFCOL’s history, role, mission and current and future developments. The follow-on discussion was focused on further cooperation between BALTDEFCOL and Georgian armed forces within professional military education and mutual support.
