On 23rd of November 2018, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had the pleasure to host Lieutenant General Christine Whitecross, Commandant of NATO Defense College (NDC). LTG Whitecross was welcomed by Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns and members of the College Management Group.
The visit started with an office call between the two Commandants. It was followed by LTG Whitecross’ lecture “Gender, PME and the NDC” to the students of Joint Command and General Staff Course 2018-2019 and BALTDEFCOL faculty. The lecture proved to be a value-added aspect of the education covering also the role of PME in that domain.
Afterwards, LTG Whitecross received a thorough briefing on the historical background, core mission and academic activities of the College. Potential areas of cooperation, including mutual support in education – exchange of experience and SMEs, research and publications were discussed. The meeting demonstrated new opportunities to develop cooperation in the field of research, developing and executing the flag officers course, namely the Senior Course in the NDC and the Higher Command Studies Course in the BALTDEFCOL.
