Visit by Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš, Chief of Defence of Latvia

Lieutenant General Leonīds Kalniņš, Chief of Defence of Latvia, visited the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) on 13th of March 2019. The high-level guest was welcomed by Major General Andis Dilāns, Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, and members of College Management Group.

 

LTG Kalniņš had an office call with MG Dilāns, followed by a briefing on BALTDEFCOL’s current and future activities and developments. The discussions were focused on the future cooperation and support to the College activities, especially in relation to the education of future leaders and staff officers.

 

In the afternoon, LTG Kalniņš delivered a lecture on “Latvian defence adaptation to the dynamics of the current security environment” to the faculty and students of the Higher Command Studies Course 2019. It was followed by a variety of questions regarding the Latvian concept of the comprehensive defence. The visit concluded with LTG Kalniņš’ meeting with Latvian staff and students at the BALTDEFCOL.
