On 1st December, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honoured by a visit of Mr Janis Karlsbergs, Undersecretary of State, Policy Director of the Ministry of Defence of Latvia. The high level guest, who visited the College for the first time, was welcomed by the Commandant, Major General Andis Dilāns accompanied by the members of College Management Group.

In the morning, Mr. Karlsbergs participated in the Graduation Ceremony of the Civil Servants’ Course 2017, where he addressed the students for successful completion of education and handed over diplomas to the three Latvian students.

After the graduation ceremony, the programme continued with the briefing session, where the Undersecretary was briefed about the BALTDEFCOL mission, courses and research activities. He was accompanied by Ms. Anda Zule, the Senior Desk Officer of the Multilateral Relations and International Organizations Section of the Latvian Ministry of Defence. During the follow-on discussion, Mr Karlsbergs expressed his interest in the College academic events and educational courses presenting readiness to support them.
