On 6th of March 2019, we had the honour to host RADM Henrik Ryberg, Commandant of Royal Danish Defence College (RDDC) on his first official visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). He was accompanied by the RDDC Dean Mr Ole Kværnø who was the Dean of BALTDEFCOL from 1998 until 2003.

After a welcome address by Major General Andis Dilāns, Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, and members of College Management Group, the visit continued with an office call between the heads of the two Professional Military Education (PME) institutions.

RADM Ryberg then delivered a lecture “Designing future military leadership education – A Danish perspective” to the faculty and students of the Higher Command Studies Course 2019, the Joint Command and General Staff Course 2018-2019 and the Civil Servants’ Course 2019.

In the afternoon, RADM Ryberg received a briefing on BALTDEFCOL. It was followed by active discussions that allowed exchange of educational perspectives and teaching methodologies between the two Colleges. A special attention was given to common subjects of education of the future civilian and military leaders focusing on opportunities to broaden cooperation by exchange of faculty and organisation of academic events.
