Visit by Supreme Commander of Swedish Armed Forces

BALTDEFCOL was honoured by the visit of Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces General Sverker Göranson on 28 January. Swedish General was accompanied by the Estonian Chief of Defence Major General Riho Terras.

Program at the BALTDEFCOL included a lecture by General Göranson to the officers of the Joint Command and General Staff Course 2013/2014 and civil servants of the Civil Servant Course 2014. Supreme Commander shared his views on Defence development in Sweden and was engaged in active rounds of questions and answers where the audience used the opportunity to engage the distinguished speaker in an open discussion.

Afterwards the high level guest was welcomed by BALTDEFCOL Commandant MG Vitalijus Vaikšnoras and part of College Management Group. During the meeting College Management gave the Swedish official a thorough overview of BALTDEFCOL and its courses also discussed possible future cooperation in the field of Professional Military Education.

Sweden has over the years contributed to the BALTDEFCOL with both Instructors and students. Sweden currently fills the position of Deputy Commandant/Chief of Staff of BALTDEFCOL.
