Visit by the Defence Attaches accredited to Latvia

On Thursday, 11th May 2017, the Defence Attachés accredited to Latvia paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College. Within the delegation such nations as Austria, Czech Republic, France, Poland, Sweden, The Netherlands, United Kingdom and United States were represented.

The distinguished visitors were welcomed by Major General Andis Dilans, the Commandant of the Baltic Defence College, together with Colonel Axel Pfaffenroth, the Chief of Staff and Colonel (ret) Dr Zdzislaw Sliwa, the Dean of the College.

  

Defence Attachés along with students of the Higher Command Studies Course 2017 participated in the opening of the exhibition dedicated to the celebration of Marshal Jozef Piłsudski Year 2017 in Estonia. The opening speeches were provided by the Polish Ambassador to Estonia H.E. Dr Robert Filipczak and MG Andis Dilans together with Colonel Enno Mõts, the Commandant of the Estonian National Defence College. The Ambassador was accompanied by the Polish Defence Attaché COL Ryszard Zając and the Cultural Attaché Mrs Sławomira Borowska-Peterson.

    

It was followed by a briefing covering an overview of the College history, mission, courses, research activities and future development. The attachés were especially interested in curricula of the BALTDEFCOL courses, international cooperation and civil – military dimension of education.

  

The Dean of the Defence Attachés Corps in Latvia, Col Roman Opalach expressed the great satisfaction as of the working visit and willingness to promote the BALTDEFCOL in respective nations as quality and modern educational institution.
