Visit by the Delegation of Finnish National Defence University

On the 19th April Lieutenant Colonel Torsti Astrén and his fellow members of the Department of Warfare and its Strategic Studies Branch of the Finnish National Defence University (FNDU) Captain Oskar Lassenius, Captain Juha Kukkonen and Captain Juha Kalliomaa paid a visit to the BALTDEFCOL. They were accompanied by the Dean Zdzislaw Sliwa, LtCol Yrjö Lehtonen, Mr. James Rogers and Mr. Art Johanson of the Estonian National Defence College.

The visit started with a tour led by LtCol Lehtonen to introduce the BALTDEFCOL’s including the Hall of Fame, syndicate rooms, lecture halls and the library. After the tour, the Dean and LtCol Lehtonen gave a briefing covering an overview of the College history, mission, courses, research activities and future development. Mr. James Rogers and Mr. Art Johanson briefed on the role of political and strategic studies in BALTDEFCOL and the Estonian National Defence College. The following discussion was very beneficial for both organizations and it supported the aim of the FNDU duty trip. The visit was part of the FNDU fact-finding trip to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland.

  

Visit to the Estonian National Defence College’s Military Museum was part of the programme as well.
