Visit by the delegation of French Senate

Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honored by the visit of a delegation of the French Senate on 15 September 2016.

The high level delegation consisting of Senator Jean-Marie Bockel, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group France-Baltic countries, Mr Jacques Bigot, Senator and Vice-President of the Friendship Group, Senator Christophe-André Frassa, and Mrs Marie Bruneau, Parliamentary official, met with leadership personnel of the College.

The Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns, together with the Deputy Commandant/Chief of Staff, Colonel Axel Pfaffenroth and the Dean, Dr. Zdzislaw Sliwa gave the delegation a comprehensive overview on the College activities.

One of the main discussion points was the participation of France in BALTDEFCOL´s education. France, as being one of the participating nations since the establishment of the College in 1999, has supported the military educational institution with permanent personnel in the field of Logistics and Support (until 2009), as well has provided a student to the Higher Command Studies Course 2009, and has contributed to the teaching and conferences/seminars with distinguished high level guest lecturers. France has also been involved in organizing the International Study Tours of BALTDEFCOL´s courses.

Major General Dilāns thanked the Senators for paying attention to the College with their visit. He expressed his appreciation for the all-around support of France to the BALTDEDFCOL till now, and invited to resume their participation in BALTDEFCOL with faculty personnel and/or students again in the future.
