The Baltic Defence College was honoured on 13th March by a visit from H.E. Ms. Claudia Delmas-Scherer, the Ambassador of France to Estonia, accompanied by Vice Admiral Charles-Édouard de Coriolis, the French Military Representative to NATO and European Union Military Committee, and Lieutenant Colonel Jean-Luc Lopez, Defence Attaché of France to Estonia.
The delegation was welcomed by the Commandant Major General Andis Dilāns and the members of the college's Management Group. The visit was also honoured by the attendance of Lieutenant General (ret.) David Hogg, Visiting Senior Mentor of Higher Command Studies Course 2017.
The visit started with a briefing providing an overview of the College history, mission, courses and research activities. It included detailed discussion about the College educational system and implementation of the BALTDEFCOL Development Plan 2017-2025. Cooperation with France within educational matters and support was considered by presenting possible fields of future partnership.
After the introduction to the College, the VADM de Coriolis gave a lecture ‘A General Overview of EU and NATO’ to Joint Command and General Staff Course 2016-2017 and the Higher Command Studies Course 2017. It was followed by a session of questions from the students and faculty to clarify current security related issues.
