Visit by the Mayor of Tartu and members of the Tartu City Government

On 26th January 2017 Mr Urmas Klaas, the Mayor of Tartu and members of the Tartu City Council paid an information visit to BALTDEFCOL. The Mayor, Deputy Mayors Jarno Laur, Valvo Semilarski, Tiia Teppan, Artjom Suvarov and the Head of Protocol, Mrs Iris Allorg were welcomed by the Commandant Major General Andis Dilāns and members of the College Management Group.

The visit started with a tour of BALTDEFCOL´s educational facilities, including the Hall of Fame, syndicate rooms, lecture halls and the Library. The programme continued with a College overview briefing in which Major General Andis Dilāns and the Chief of Staff, Colonel Axel Pfaffenroth emphazised on the numerous activities, areas of cooperation and common interests, followed by information on the College, its history, mission, courses and research activities.

During a working lunch BALTDEFCOL staff members had the opportunity to get updated on Tartu city development, the economic situation, upcoming events and infrastructure projects. Mr Klaas and the City Council members were particularly interested in how staff, students and their families feel in Tartu and whether there are any concerns or suggestions. Both sides expressed their appreciation of the excellent cooperation and will continue the close contact.
