Visit by the Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Latvia

On 14th–15th December the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) was honoured by a visit of Mr Raimonds Bergmanis, Minister of National Defence of the Republic of Latvia. The high level guest who visited the College for the first time was welcomed by the Commandant, Major General Andis Dilāns.

In the afternoon Mr Bergmanis met with Latvian students and staff personnel, giving a speech as well as bestowing the “Award of Latvian National Ministry of Defence” upon Lieutenant Colonel Vents Lapsenbergs, Lecturer in the Department of Leadership and Mr. Gatis Mezitis, BALTDEFCOL´s Development Planner.

The program continued with a tour of the college dormitories which are provided for BALTDEFCOL use by the host nation, Estonia.

The second day of the visit started with an office call with the Commandant, Major General Andis Dilāns, followed by a presentation on the College’s vision, mission, strategic goals and main efforts and a tour of BALTDEFCOL´s premises.

Afterwards Mr. Bergmanis participated in the Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony for Mr Romualds Ražuks, Member of the Latvian Parliament.

In the afternoon Mr. Bergmanis participated in the graduation ceremony of the Civil Servants Course 2016 where he addressed the students and handed over diploma to the Latvian students.
