Visit by U.S. Air War College

On the 16th of March, the faculty and students of the United States Air War College paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). The delegation was welcomed by the Acting Commandant/ Chief of Staff, Colonel Dietmar Hartung (DEU A), and U.S. representatives at the College.

The visit started with a briefing session to give an overview of BALTDEFCOL's mission, vision, tasks, and role as a Professional Military Education institution established by Estonia, Latvia and, Lithuania.

The briefing session was followed by several discussions and lectures giving a synopsis of the Baltic history and regional security and roundtable discussions with Baltic Officers (EST, LTU, LVA, POL).

The Mission of US Air War College is to “Educate senior military and civilian teammates to serve as critical and strategic thinkers able to serve as national security senior leaders”. Within educational programs, it prepares senior officers to lead at the strategic level across the range of military operations in joint, interagency, and multinational environments. As part of the academic program, the students take part in study trips to different regions of the world to meet with regional military and civilian leaders and to learn about the security issues of the region. The regional visits are a core part of the Air War College course.
