On 27th of June 2019, Vice Admiral Fritz Roegge, President of National Defense University (NDU) made an office call to the Commandant of Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL), Major General Andis Dilāns. VADM Roegge is currently in Estonia for the NDU Alumni Continuing Education Security Seminar (ACESS) “Hybrid Warfare and Grey Zone Operations: Expanding the Competitive Space”.
The Admiral was briefed on the history, mission and Professional Military Education (PME) system of the College with a special focus on BALTDEFCOL courses. VADM Roegge and faculty who accompanied him were interested in the international dimension of education in the College as of the diverse background of faculty and students. The major annual conferences arouse interest and discussion about their focus and future topics to be debated as the NDU is covering broad spectrum of international security areas.
Both leaders of PME organisations recognised common benefits of closer relations and possible areas of deeper cooperation in the future related to the exchange of subject matter experts, conducting regional case studies and support for academic events.
