On 2nd May, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) hosted a visit by Brigadier General Didier Oustric, the Head of International Relations at the French Directorate of Higher Military Education. The high level guest was welcomed by the Commandant Brigadier General Ilmar Tamm and Deputy Commandant/ Chief of Staff Colonel Dietmar Hartung.
The visit started with a briefing session where our high level guest received a general overview of the historical background, mission, and tasks of the College and learned about the various courses and related activities conducted at the BALTDEFCOL. It allowed us to better understand each other and compare the BALTDEFCOL in respect to the French Professional Military Education (PME) system. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between the College and French institutions.
The briefing session was followed by a meeting on the Symposium of Higher Military Education Institutions, which is the French initiative aiming to extend cooperation among Professional Military Education institutions.
