On 6th of July, a group of US cadets from Citadel programme attending the Summer School at the University of Tartu Skytte Institute paid a visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). The group was welcomed by the College Sergeant Major SGM Peeter Einbaum. The programme of the visit included a tour on the BALTDEFCOL facilities, standard presentation about the BALTDEFCOL and question & answers session.
Follow-on meeting took place on 9th of July when SGM Peeter Einbaum delivered a lecture at Skytte Institute on current status of regional security and it's future perspectives.
The Citadel is known in a formal sense as The Military College of South Carolina. It is a public (state supported) liberal arts college in Charleston, South Carolina. Full time day students are members of the Military Corps of Cadets. The Citadel actively promotes opportunities for its students to travel and study in other countries to enhance their education. This is the second year the Citadel has sent approximately 15 students for 3 weeks of study and briefings in Estonia and Finland. The students study Estonian relations with the other Baltic countries, the EU, and NATO. The second course looks at cybersecurity and information security.
