Visiting Finnish ADL Centre and Finnish National Defence University
On 17th–18th November a small delegation of the Baltic Defence College visited the Finnish ADL Centre and the Finnish National Defence University (FNDU). The aim of the visit was to familiarise BALTDEFCOL staff members Ms Triinu Soomere and Ms Maris Pütsepp with ADL options used in Finland and establish contacts with the Finland Partnership Centre in Tuusula and the Finnish National Defence University in Santahamina and secondly to support research of Major Kalle Kõlli on military education.
Major Tuomas Tihula, Chief of Finnish Defence Forces ADL Office, gave an overview of the ADL in the Finnish Defence Forces and organised a short visit to "Lan-Cave" where conscripts make mobile applications for learning.
In the Finnish National Defence University the delegation was hosted by Major Niklas Nyholm (Department of Leadership and Pedagogy) and Ms Soili Paananen (Senior researcher). They gave an overview of using Moodle for the purposes of teaching and faculty development in the FNDU.
Baltic Defence College is looking forward to increasing cooperation with the Finnish ADL Centre and the FNDU that is linked with BALTDEFCOL’s intent to utilise of ADL platforms fully. Further cooperation will continue on Nordic Defence Cooperation’s annual Advanced Distributed Learning Conference in April 2017.
