On 13-14 February, the Commandant of Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Major General Andis Dilāns paid a working visit to Szczecin, the hometown of the Multinational Corps Northeast (MNC NE).
During the meeting, MNC NE Commanding Officer Lieutenant General Manfred Hofmann (German Army) and Major General Andis Dilāns discussed the areas in which both organizations could develop efforts in projecting stability and adding to deterrence effects in the region with a focus on professional military education and exercises. These endeavors include also the exchange of subject matter experts and contribution to activities enhancing professional development of personnel.
During the visit, the MNC NE team provided a brief focusing on roles, tasks and regional responsibilities of the Corps, which is providing NATO’s presence in the North-Eastern flank of the Alliance and is putting a strong emphasis on NATO Article 5 operations, as well as it is playing the custodian’s role in the regional security.
