BALTDEFCOL Staff Gathers to Launch Preparations for Academic Year 2025/2026

The Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) has officially launched preparations for the upcoming Academic Year (AY) 2025/2026 with a Staff Meeting followed by the start of the annual Staff Development Programme. These activities mark the beginning of a new academic cycle and reaffirm the BALTDEFCOL’s commitment to delivering high-quality, multinational professional military education.

The Staff Meeting brought together the entire BALTDEFCOL family—military and civilian, academic and support staff—to reflect on the past year, outline institutional priorities, and align on key objectives for the year ahead. The meeting also served as a platform to welcome new personnel, exchange ideas, and ensure cohesion across all functions of the BALTDEFCOL.

Updates were shared on curriculum developments, upcoming events, student body composition, and strategic initiatives. With the AY officially starting on 11 August, the BALTDEFCOL is preparing to receive new participants of the Joint Command and General Staff Course (JCGSC) and the Civil Servants’ Course (CSC).

Following the Staff Meeting, BALTDEFCOL launched its Staff Development Programme—a focused period of internal training, coordination, and professional development designed to ensure smooth course delivery and cross-departmental cooperation. The programme includes course planning sessions, academic briefings, and faculty discussions that help refine teaching methods and reinforce shared standards.

More than just an administrative routine, the Staff Development Programme plays a vital role in maintaining BALTDEFCOL’s educational quality and ensuring the college is ready—both technically and academically—for the arrival of students from NATO and partner nations.

As part of the week's activities, the BALTDEFCOL also hosted its traditional Boat Trip, a longstanding team-building event that fosters informal connections across the BALTDEFCOL community. This annual tradition plays an important role in welcoming new staff and reinforcing the BALTDEFCOL's strong team culture—key to the success of its multinational and mission-driven environment.

With preparations well underway, BALTDEFCOL is set to begin another productive and impactful academic year. The JCGSC and CSC will continue to serve as pillars of the BALTDEFCOL’s curriculum, preparing military officers and civilian professionals for the demands of contemporary defence and security leadership.
