On March 4 and 5, representatives of the Capabilities Branch of the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) contributed to Module 8 (Managing Contemporary Crises) of the Joint Command and General Staff Course and the Civil Servants’ Course at the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL).
The Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), located in Sofia, the Republic of Bulgaria, was established on 28 August 2013 and received official accreditation as the 21st NATO COE on 31 March 2015. The CMDR COE received an Unconditional Accreditation and NATO Quality Assurance Certificate in 2019.
The Baltic Defence College students have benefited from their contribution to Module 8 since 2022. The CMDR COE personnel provide lectures on crisis management in NATO and other cross-cutting topics such as resilience, climate change, and the usage of information technology in crisis management, including AI.
LTC Karl Salum, lecturer on crisis management and the BALTDEFCOL Dean, COL (ret) Dr (hab) Zdzisław Śliwa, expressed their gratitude to the CMDR COE delegation for their invaluable input in the BALTDEFCOL education process, emphasizing the significance of their expertise in enhancing the students' understanding of crisis management.
