CSELC Hosted a Discussion Panel on National Security and Elements of National Power Topics


On 2 October, the Command Senior Enlisted Leaders Course (CSELC) hosted a discussion panel on National Security and Elements of National Power topics.

The guests on the panel were H.E. Maksym Kononenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Estonia, Ms Evelyn Kaldoja, Head of Postimees Foreign News Department, Major General Ilmar Tamm, Commander of the Estonian Defence League, and  Mr Peeter Luikmel, the Head of Monetary Policy and Foreign Economics Division, Bank of Estonia.

Panellists elaborated on their vision of diplomatic, informational, military, and economic instruments of national power, based on their activity and experience, and how these elements can be more effectively applied, including from small states' perspective. At the same time, the discussion covered the actual international and regional security environment, geopolitical and strategic issues and challenges, and joint international efforts against the Russian Federation war in Ukraine.

The CSELC students had the opportunity to interact with panellists, ask questions, and participate in productive and interactive discussions. The panel was moderated by Mr Louis Wierenga,  Lecturer in International Relations, Department of Political and Strategic Studies at Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL).
