Lithuanian Military Academy's AFCSC Visits BALTDEFCOL: Enhancing Military Education and International Collaboration


On 2 October, the Air Force Command and Staff Course (AFCSC) of the Lithuanian Military Academy conducted a study visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) in Tartu, Estonia. 

This visit underscored the growing collaboration between Baltic defence institutions. It provided a unique opportunity for Lithuanian officers to engage with their counterparts in advanced military education, leadership, and strategic planning.

The BALTDEFCOL, a premier institution for professional military education in the Baltic region, warmly welcomed the Lithuanian delegation. Known for its focus on joint operations and multinational cooperation, BALTDEFCOL was the perfect setting for the Lithuanian Air Force officers to explore cutting-edge defence and military leadership approaches.

The visit began with a formal reception where the BALTDEFCOL delegation, led by Commandant Brigadier General Alvydas Šiuparis, greeted the Lithuanian officers. He emphasized the importance of fostering close relationships between military institutions in the Baltic region. He delivered an in-depth briefing to the visiting Lithuanian officers, outlining the mission and core educational goals of BALTDEFCOL. Brigadier General Šiuparis provided a detailed overview of the college’s approach to professional military education, emphasising developing leadership skills, strategic thinking, and joint operational planning in a multinational environment.
