Visit by UK Forward Land Forces to the Baltic Defence College


On 27 May 2025, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had the honour of hosting a delegation from the UK Forward Land Forces. The visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen defence cooperation and mutual understanding between allied military institutions.

The delegation was officially greeted by the Dean of BALTDEFCOL, Sliwa, Zdzislaw (Col (ret)), who delivered opening remarks and provided an overview of the College’s mission, academic programmes, and strategic role in regional security.

The visit continued with a series of informative briefings and discussions. The delegation received a presentation on the Estonian Defence League by MAJ Elend Auli, Chief of Staff of the Tartu Defence League District. This was followed by an engaging session on the Estonian Military Academy, led by LTC Eero Aija and LTC Tõnis Vau, highlighting the academy’s educational approach and its role in officer development.
The programme concluded with a visit to the Estonian Military Museum, where Mr Art Johanson BALDEFCOL, lecturer in Military History and Strategic Planning, provided insights into Estonia’s military history and heritage.

The visit provided a valuable platform for dialogue and exchange, reinforcing the strong ties between the UK and Estonia in the field of defence education and cooperation.
