Visit of University of Warsaw Delegation to Baltic Defence College

On 28 May, the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) had the honour of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the University of Warsaw, Poland’s largest and most prestigious institution of higher education. The delegation was represented by Amb. Grzegorz Kozłowski, Dr Adam Eberhardt, and Ms Aleksandra Harasim.

The visit was hosted by the Dean of BALTDEFCOL, Zdzislaw Sliwa (Col (ret)), and Dr Asta Maskaliunaite, who led the discussions on behalf of the College.

Founded in 1816, the University of Warsaw educates over 55,000 students annually and is renowned for its excellence in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. It maintains a strong international profile.

During the visit, discussions focused on deepening cooperation between the two institutions, particularly through the potential institutionalization of ties within the framework of the PL-Baltic network of experts on political and security sciences. This initiative aims to foster academic exchange and collaborative research on regional security dynamics.

The agenda also included a strategic dialogue on the evolving political landscape, with emphasis on the Russian threat, the security posture of the Baltic states, and the broader implications for NATO’s eastern flank. Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutual understanding and resilience through education, research, and policy engagement.
