Celebration of Latvian Lāčplēsis Day and Independence Day

The month of November has a special significance for Latvia and Latvian people. Although it might be one of the darkest, greyest and unpleasant months in this part of the world, it definitely is bright and shiny for Latvians. Visit by Professor Toomas Asser, Rector of the University of Tartu

On 14th of November 2018, Professor Toomas Asser, Rector of the University of Tartu (UT) paid his first official visit to the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). He was welcomed by Commandant of BALTDEFCOL, Major General Andis Dilāns and the College Management Group members. The aim of the visit was to gain insight into College’s mission and activities, discuss areas of future cooperation and exchange knowledge in specific areas of expertise.

Educational Requirements Seminar

The second Educational Requirements Seminar (ERS) took place in Riga at the Latvian Ministry of Defence on 12th of November. It was organised by the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) as a joint effort by the College and three nations – Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Exercise “Joint Planner 18” in full mode

1st week of the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Exercise “Joint Planner 18” (JP18) is quickly reaching its end. BALTDEFCOL faculty and students of the Joint Command and General Staff Course 2018-2019 have been working shoulder to shoulder with external participants from Estonian SOF, Air Force and Navy; Latvian TRADOC HQ Training Branch; Lithuanian Armed Forces, Navy and Ministry of National Defence; Georgian National Defence Academy; Polish War Studies University; Swedish Armed Forces International Centre and NATO Joint Warfare Centre. Such multinational and –organisational cooperation will significantly contribute to the preparation of the participants of the course for operational level planning process within international environment.
