SALARY: 30 000 – 42000 EURper annum (gross)
CONTRACT: Indefinite duration

The Baltic Defence College is a modern, future-oriented, English-language based international institution of the Baltic states providing professional military education with a wider Baltic region focus and Euro-Atlantic scope. The college serves as a professional military education institution at the operational and strategic level, applying contemporary educational principles, effective management and best use of intellectual and material resources. Our mission is to educate military and security/defence related civilian personnel of the Baltic States as well as their allies and partners, to contribute to applied research focused on security and defence policies while promoting international cooperation and networking. We are looking for a person to lead and manage academic research networking and outreach activities at the College. This person will also lead the professional development program of the BALTDEFCOL Faculty. 

He or she will be entitled to benefit from our attractiveness programme (i.e. funding of professional development, re-allocation support, limited initial lodging at low cost if available, free use of sports facilities). BALTDEFCOL employees are fully covered by Estonian medical insurance.


  1. Actively engages with partners and explores new partnership and funding opportunities for College’s conferences and research;
  2. Develops and manages the Faculty Development concept and programme at the College level and in support of departments; 
  3. Promotes College faculty research and publications in the civilian and military education networks;
  4. Coordinates fellowship and internship programs of the College;
  5. Maintains active network with academic and research partners. 


  1. Contributes to the development of BALTDEFCOL’s academic activities (conferences, seminars, and roundtables) and academic research plans.
  2. Contributes to education and research within his/her field of expertise within capability.
  3. Represents BALTDEFCOL in professional conferences/seminars.
  4. Performs additional job-related duties as directed by the Dean.


1. Essential qualifications

  • Advanced academic degree in Social Sciences,
  • Experience of convening and coordinating academic events;
  • Language: English (Proficient User: C1 or a comparable language performance profile);
  • Proactive attitude to the duties;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Problem solving abilities.

2. Desirable qualifications

  • A doctoral degree or doctoral candidate;
  • Knowledge of Estonian language;
  • Experience of working and co-operating in a military environment;
  • Experience of working in an international environment;
  • Eloquence in communicating his/her opinions and ideas orally and in writing;
  • Flexibility, creativity, dynamism and a result-oriented approach to duties;
  • Ability to both act as a part of a team and pursue individual initiatives and tasks.
