This year’s Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL) Team Event, held at the 2nd Infantry Brigade (IB), Taara Army Base in Võru, focused on the critical theme of communication, bringing together team members for a day of collaboration, learning, and exploration.
The day began with the journey to Võru in South-Eastern Estonia. Upon arrival, the BALTDEFCOL delegation was warmly welcomed with introductory remarks from LTC Janek Rannamägi, Commander of the 2nd IB Combat Service Support Battalion. Additional opening remarks were delivered by BALTDEFCOL Commandant, BG Alvydas Šiuparis, and the newly appointed BALTDEFCOL COS, COL Jonathan Huxley, who recently joined the BALTDEFCOL family and will officially assume his duties in February.
Participants engaged in group work sessions that emphasized effective communication, moderated by experienced facilitators such as LTC Jeffery Fritz, Mr George Spencer Terry and MAJ (ret) Druvis Kleins.
The afternoon featured a briefing by CSM of the 2nd Infantry Brigade Helari Pilve and a campus tour, allowing participants to connect and explore. The day concluded with a visit to Camp Reedo near Võru, where Commanding Officer LTC Michael Hefti provided a practical briefing and tour.
The event successfully enhanced team dynamics, leadership skills, and communication strategies while offering participants a chance to connect, learn, and grow in a supportive and inspiring environment. The 2025 Team Event demonstrated the value of collaboration and dialogue, further strengthening the bonds within the BALTDEFCOL community.
